Theater Workshops for Adults & Kids

Introduction to Theater – Workshop for Kids (ages 7-14) – 1.5 hrs

Does your child have an interest in storytelling or making people laugh? Are they a natural performer just waiting to unlock their full potential? Do they combat stage fright or shy away in front of crowds but have lots of untapped performance energy?

Nikhaar Kishnani’s Introduction to Theater, strives to help children who have an interest in acting understand some fundamentals of the craft through confidence building with theater games and through individualized attention by exploring “open scene work.”

Be heard! Be effective! – Workshop for Adults (ages 15 & above) –  3 hrs

Breath Control and Projection are critical skills for an actor, but they’re just as important for anyone who speaks publicly. The trick is to speak loudly and project without yelling. Think about how many times you have to raise your voice in a day. Do you project or do you yell?

Come spend some time with ICS Theatre exploring aspects of your voice and enrich yourself with tools that you can use both on and off stage.

Instructor: Nikhaar Kishnani

Nikhaar Kishnani is a professional actress, improviser, and voice over artist. She has received her M.F.A. from The Theatre School at DePaul University. She is a recipient of the iO Chicago Diversity Scholarship and Upright Citizens Brigade Diversity Scholarship.

Her credits include: Off-Off Broadway: Veil’d (World Premiere) at Astoria Performing Arts Center. Regional Theatre: A Doll’s House, Part 2 at Actors Theatre of Louisville. Other Theatre: Twelfth Night, The Women Eat Chocolate (World Premiere), Prospero’s Storm (World Premiere), The Children’s Hour, and The Qualms at DePaul University; The Rimers of Eldritch at Rutgers University. Film: Sama, Him&Her&Him. Television: Brown Nation, Code Switched, Geeta’s Guide To Moving On, Nepotism.
